Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori/Matariki

To celebrate Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori (Māori Language Week) and Matariki this week, Room 12 have been busy working on variety of different projects.

These activities have included:

  • Making a Korowai feather, which will used to create a collaborative cloak
  • Practising our phrase of the fortnight (counting backwards from 10)
  • Introducing and practising a Kupu of the Day 
  • Reflecting on our term so far by writing a positive comment on a star and decorating them
  • Listening to a range of Māori myths and legends and responding to these by recording the main ideas
  • Writing a Matariki acrostic poem 
  • Using rakau sticks to create a routine with a partner
  • Creating artwork using Koru sponges

Open Day/Celebration of Learning
